Project Cornerstone Reader
Be a part of Project Cornerstone at Collins!
Project Cornerstone’s ABC program provides our students with the tools and skills to thrive. (Project Cornerstone is a YMCA of Silicon Valley Initiative.)
Becoming a Project Cornerstone ABC reader involves:
Attend an hour-long meeting, once a month during school hours*, to learn about the book, discussion points, and planned activities. You will also meet with Collins’ adjunct teachers as needed for support sessions.
Preparation and reading the book in a classroom**, leading the discussion and delivering the activity.
You’ll also need to:
Attend two additional one-time trainings 1) Assets 101 for new readers only and 2) Classroom Management training offered by Collins’ adjunct teachers.
Meet the CUSD volunteer requirements of having a current TB test and fingerprint results on file at Collins.
*Monthly training dates and time TBD during school hours.

Each month a school wide book is read in every classroom. The book and discussion teach life skills and tools to deal with social conflicts. Project Cornerstone’s ABC program gives students a safe and caring place to talk about their feelings, experiences, and concerns.
