Running Club

RUN OR WALK - LET'S GET MOVING AND HAVE FUN!

Running Club has been a Collins tradition since January 2005. Participation is optional and open to all students in grades 1 to 5 during lunch every Tuesday and Friday. Students run laps in the first half hour of lunch for upper grades or in the second half of lunch for primary grades. No enrollment is necessary.

Running Club is a great motivator for students to exercise and stay fit. For every 5 miles (approx) that the student runs (or walks), a charm token is given out to the student. Our students love collecting the many colored charm tokens and proudly display them on their backpacks!

Running Club is a "rite of passage" for the 1st graders as they come into the main playground. Every year, we have a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and participation from our 1st grader runners!

If you have specific questions or feedback about the Running Club, please contact: runningclub@lpcollinspta.org.

Volunteers needed! If you are interested in volunteering for the Running Club, contact: runningclub@lpcollinspta.org. You can start volunteering at any time during the school year if you meet the CUSD school volunteer requirements.

** Note: Because Running Club volunteers have direct, regular contact with students, all volunteers must be both TB tested and fingerprinted prior to volunteering. Information can be found at the district website.

This is a program run solely by parent volunteers and can only occur if we have enough volunteers to commit to setting up the cones, handing out the lap cards, punching holes, collecting completed cards and awarding the charms, and more.

Volunteer commitment is flexible. Volunteer on one or both days each week. Volunteer twice a month or every week. Volunteer when you can. We need to have at least 6-7 parents at each lunch hour.

Running Club starts in September and ends at the beginning of May.
